On 29-30.10.2025, a CTP PAS delegation consisting of Anna Raiter-Smiljanic, Dominika Koszade-Karwat, Remigiusz Augusiak met representatives of the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) at the ICFO headquarters in Castelldefels (Barcelona), Spain.

Our delegation met with:

- Dr. Lydia Sanmarti-Vila to discuss the best practices in outreach & dissemination, as well as potential joint activities;

- Dr. Veronica Ahufinger to learn more about ICFO's educational programme for PhDs and for visiting students;

- Cristina Morales to discuss the best practices in project management and the structure of projects team at ICFO.

- Cristina Morales and prof. Robert Sewell to discuss joint CTP PAS-ICFO project application process.

On 6-7 October CTP PAS delegation attended the "Innovations, trends, the future of research. Horizon Europe and the 10th Framework Programme" organised by the National Contact Point at the Presidential Hotel in Warsaw.


Prof. Krzysztof Pawłowski and Prof. Remigiusz Augusiak shared the CTP's experience with implementing Widening grants within ERA Chairs and Hop-op Facility programmes, representing EUCENTRAL and NeQST projects during the discussion panel on 7 Oct.

Continuing with EUCENTRAL team members. Dawid Hryniuk joined in June as an assistant researcher, focusing on the development of quantum Monte Carlo and tensor network methods, as well as on adjustment of our codes for broader use, and tutorial preparation. Thank you for your contributions!

CTP PAS delegation’s (Krzysztof PawlowskiRemigiusz AugusiakAnna Raiter-Smiljanic) study visit at University College London concluded on 17 July.


The members met with:

• Prof. Andrew Fisher (UCL, former director of LCN, consultant at Quantum Motion) on collaborative research projects within the London Centre for Nanotechnology,

• Prof. Raman Prinja (UCL, Head of Physics & Astronomy) on the management of a large-scale academic body,

• Prof. John Morton (UCL, founder and CTO of Quantum Motion) on developing a quantum technologies-oriented company and attracting venture capital.

On 16 July, CTP members met with:

• Owal Alouch (UCL) on the best practices in the recruitment process of scientists,

• Lucy Keepking (LCN, previously UCL) on the division of administrative tasks between specialists and research staff,

• Rebecca Martin (UCL) on the best practices in project budget management at UCL.
